Celebrating the yuletide season isn’t all about the fancy clothes, sumptuous meals, and extravagant gifts – it’s also about giving back to the community.

Here at LOOQAL, giving back is part of what we do 365 days a year. Through our Green Dollars program, 1% of each purchase you make is donated to a chosen charity or organisation such as aidha, a Singapore-based organisation helping migrant domestic workers and low-income Singaporean women achieve economic independence through financial education, wealth creation and entrepreneurship.

If you’re looking to spread the Christmas cheer to more people, here are some ways you can give back during the holidays:

1. Supports food-insecure communities. Donate food items at Food Bank boxes across the island to help ensure a steady supply of food rations for people in need. Their mission is to end hunger in Singapore in 2025 and you can be a part of that solution, too.
2. Volunteer to be someone else’s eyes. Be My Eyes is an AI-powered free app that connects people needing sighted support with volunteers and companies through live video around the world. You can simply sign up to their program and offer a few minutes of your time to help someone complete a task or access visual information with ease.

3. Donate your blood. Every hour of the day, 15 units of blood are used in Singapore. Help the team at Red Cross to meet their goal of about 120,000 units of blood and meet the transfusion needs of patients every year, equivalent to more than 400 units of blood a day. Apart from transfusion, donated blood can also be used for research purposes that can further help save lives now and in the future.

4. Adopt a Singapore Special. It may not be so much an act of giving back but more about sharing the warmth and comfort of a loving home, adopting mongrels in need of pawrents is also a beautiful way of spreading the festive cheer to our fur friends. If you’re not in the position to adopt, you can also volunteer at or donate to Exclusively Mongrels to help them continue doing their great work.

5. Make someone’s wish come true. Children bring a magical sense of youthful spirit during the holidays however for some, they face this season battling critical illnesses. Through the Make-A-Wish foundation you can Adopt A Wish and help a child’s wish come true. No matter how big or small your donation is, it can bring a sense of hope, strength, and joy to all the brave children.
